10. Magazine Analyses

Pick 3 different magazines (for each analyse the Front Cover, Contents Pages, 1 Feature Article) - one of the magazines should be in a total different genre than the one you wish to do - for ex you create a fashion magazine - analyse 2 fashion magazines and one travel magazine.

For each:

• What are the conventions found in the magazine? Position of images, text, fonts, plugs, masthead, skyline, baseline, coverline, etc. Look back at conventions here: https://anamariahuluban6.wixsite.com/mediastudies/post/magazine-conventions

• What do the elements in the cover represent? (Conventions, Denotation and Connotation)

• Analyse the contents page and feature article (Conventions, Denotation and Connotation)

• Who is the audience for this magazine and how is the magazine appealing to it? (be specific)

• What genre is the magazine? How is this shown?

• What features of the magazines analysed will you use/not use in your own magazine?
